PRODUCTION
Three months after experiencing a Plugin Mind bufo retreat in June, '24, filmmaker Gabriel Miller (Wonderlust 2020) returned to Costa Rica to commence production on This is What the God. The next and final stage will be to document an attendee's full "Grand Rebirth Retreat”, and exploring the science behind bufo.

Bufo shamans. Spiritual doulas. Facilitators.
Karina and Niko have a message: befriend the ego. And, a method: beat the thing into submission. Ice baths, breath work, kambo, and fasting—they each cleans, heal, and whip the ego into shape. Then the final knock out: 5-MeO-DMT and non-duality, aka, "ego death".
Through their Plugin Mind retreats, the couple introduce humans to their maker: love. Twenty minutes later they're busily pushing through the after-school crowd to pick up their two, impressively loving, little boys—just like any other expat parent in Costa Rican paradise.
While their amphibian medicines are among the most potent known—what Karina and Niko bring to the experience is special. But, is it just a trip—or ultimate reality?
The controversy surrounding sacred medicines has threatened to censor their efforts into the darkness. While at the same time, the competition is increasing—and contributing to the distrust in such facilitations.
This is What the God is an existential exploration of consciousness, ego, God—the particle that might save humanity, and one couple's quest to bring love consciousness to the planet.
